News Round Up

Accrington could be in a position to clear their tax bill in the next 48 hours. The Lancashire Telegraph reports that the club earned £50,000 from last night's 2,453 gate from their friendly loss to Blackburn, and that a number of existing board members have pledged £100,000 to their £308,000 target. A local businessman has offered a £50,000 loan to cover the difference with £100,000 already raised.

Notts County have denied speculation linking Sven Goran Ericsson to both Sweden and North Korea. Cheltenham have agreed a small compensation package with Stoke after an under-14 player joined the Premier League side. Grimsby are trialling ex-Liverpool midfielder Ryan Crowther and former Exeter man Ben Osman.

Departing Aldershot boss Gary Waddock turned down a new contract with the club to go to Wycombe. The Shots will receive some compensation for the loss. Morecambe keeper Barry Roche will miss at least a month with a knee injury. Bradford will have to go to a tribunal to set a fee for striker James Hanson after they failed to agree terms with former side Guiseley. Hanson has scored four times this season.

Conference strugglers Gateshead have announced their intention to go full time next summer, regardless of whether they stay in the Conference or not. They have plans for a 9,000 purpose-built stadium and a reserve side, but are getting gates around the 500 mark at present. Ex-Bull Marlon Jackson scored twice for Bristol City's reserves as they hammered Bournemouth 7-0 yesterday. Tristan Plummer also played.
