Hereford United played their last ever League game at Christie Park yesterday. Next season Morecambe hope to play in a brand new stadium.
There is usually a good atmosphere at Christie Park and yesterday was no exception although several of the Hereford United chant leaders were missing.
And there was a one minute applause for the life and times of Sir Bobby Robson before kick-off.
Perhaps the only moment of the game when trouble might have brewed was when former Bull Craig Stanley scored.
Not the best looking footballer, he rushed towards the Hereford supporters enticing them to respond to his childish gestures. Had the authorities captured him on camera he might have been charged with an offence.
With parking right next to the ground, reasonably priced refreshments, a good chip shop just a few yards away and friendly and sensible stewarding, this is a ground many will miss. The only minus point was that the pubs were several minutes walk away.
Meanwhile for those who missed the highlights last night they are now available on BBC iplayer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00m38q7/The_Football_League_Show_08_08_2009/
