Little Time for Turner to Help with Training

Hereford United chairman Graham Turner has admitted that he's hardly had any time to help manager John Trewick with the training of players as he has had several other pressing matters to attend to.

Firstly the on-going dispute with West Mercia Police shows no sign of going away and secondly the football licensing authority have asked for the barriers on the Meadow End to be tested.

"The police issue has not gone away. It has intensified this week. A very difficult meeting in the week, exchanges of telephone calls with our solicitors, with the council, exchanges of e-mails," said Turner.

"It's a situation that won't go away. I don't know where we will finish up with this, up in high court, judicial reviews, whatever."

Turner then talked about the Meadow End.

"We've had a meeting with the Football Licensing Authority. There are still some quite major issues with the Meadow End.

"It will require a considerable amount of work. What will probably have to be done before Christmas will be considerable strengthening of all the barriers.

"The difficulty is that under the steps we don't know how firm the foundations are, how far down they go, whether it has just been built on shale.

"It's not as bad as the Blackfriars. It won't be closed. We can do the work. It will be costly. We might just have to bear that cost.

"The annoying thing is that over the next three or four years we are hoping it will all be developed.

"It can be overcome at a cost."

But there has been some progress with the Blackfriars End.

"We've been given a price. It was considerably higher than we expected but I'm sure in the present climate if we can get construction companies bidding against each other, we can get it a lot cheaper than he has predicted."
