Martin Allen has spoken to the press about tomorrow's match: "A lot of the players here weren't around last season for the Hereford away game. It has been mentioned of course and I don't like looking back but you have to learn from it. It's about preparing this new squad for a local derby and by all accounts we have a strong following coming to the game because it's only 45 minutes away as long as you don't get stuck behind a tractor. We want to put on a good show for the supporters but most importantly we want a good performance for the team.
"I don't take any notice of predictions to be honest and I have no interest in them. We've got a new group of players and some young lads getting used to their new lifestyle. They're going to Sainsbury's to shop and cook for themselves; it's a big step for them. We've got some golden oldies here and God knows how old they are...we had two strikers on the pitch against Southend that added up to about 80 years old. How we cope and how we get on together is all to be revealed. No one can predict what's going to happen. All I know is that I've got a good group of honest players and they're doing okay at the moment.
"Of course the away form is important as is every game, it's all three points. You get to see a bit more of your player's character when you go away from home. You want to win all the games but when you've got a game like tomorrow's derby then you'll really see how they cope mentally. One of the criteria for recruiting players, believe it or not, was whether they could cope with a week at the army camp. I've met all the players we've signed a couple of times because it gives you a chance to get to know them. All these players were more than able to cope with the army camp and very positive about the whole experience. Hereford is the home of the SAS isn't it? We're going in to take them on so let's have it."
