Sarah Carr, the prospective Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate for Hereford has today given Bulls News her views on the current situation regarding redevelopment of the Edgar Street stadium.
"I share the longstanding frustration of Bull fans that the ground is in such a poor state and now with reduced capacity."
"There have been several examples across the country where local councils have worked with clubs to improve facilities. I really think that in Herefordshire, our local Council needs to show more leadership to get everyone involved - the developer, club, Edgar Street Grid Company and Herefordshire Council - around the table and thrash out a way forward. When it comes down to brass tacks money is needed and it has to come from somewhere."
"I think you have to question the priorities of this Conservative run Council when they are spending up to £10m on a new Cattle Market and £17m on new offices, whilst selling 10's of acres of land to private developers at undisclosed prices and refusing to invest in local leisure facilities - another example would be the LEA swimming pool they have closed. I would like to see Herefordshire Council and Edgar Street Grid Company exploring how their plans will support the football club including the leisure and commercial opportunities surrounding redeveloping the stadium."
I welcome any views from Bulls fans. My email is info@sarahcarr.org.uk and telephone 01432 265528.
With best wishes,
Sarah
