News Round Up

Barnet are spending £250,000 on improvements to Underhill this summer to keep them in line with Football League regulations. They have just implemented a new £70,000 CCTV system, work done by the Bulls last summer. Rochdale defender Rory McArdle will miss the first two months of the season after dislocating his shoulder in last night's friendly with Radcliffe Borough.

Ex-Bull Nick Chadwick trialled a second time for Morecambe at Southport last night. The Shrimps won 2-1, and Chadwick is reported to have missed a sitter. Exeter don't expect a deal to be done for Stuart Fleetwood after manager Paul Tisdale admitted their offer for him had gone unanswered for three weeks. Millwall have denied making a bid for Tamika Mkandawire.

Burton got Kettering defender Guy Branston on a free according to manager Paul Peschisolido, but the player now faces a legal fight with his old club. Torquay had agreed a £18,000 fee with the Poppies, but a contract extension was not properly registered with the FA so officially he was still on his old deal - a deal that had expired. Kettering will now chase Branston for the increased wages and bonus that he has been paid under the new deal that would not be due under the old deal.

Cambridge have agreed a settlement on ex-boss Gary Brabin's contract. They have announced that they will seek a new manager that is not employed elsewhere as they cannot afford a compensation payment. Rotherham have terminated the contract of striker Mark Burchill by mutual consent. The Scot is expected to return north of the border. They are to replace him with veteran Paul Warne, who played for Yeovil last season scoring five goals.

Darlington have been told by the Football League that they will be accepted for the coming season with no further points deduction providing they meet 'certain criteria'. The hope to exit Administration in the next two weeks, and can then sign the announced players to actual contracts. Update - The Football League are denying the Darlington press release as accurate, saying they have only had a preliminary meeting with executives but not the full FL board.

Bradford are trialling Estonian international Jevgeni Novikov. The 29 year old midfielder has played in Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia during his career. The Daily Star claim Notts County have upped their bid for Chesterfield striker Jack Lester to £200,000. Accrington have signed Leicester's teenage forward Billy Kee on a six month loan. He scored 46 goals in 43 youth and reserve games for the Foxes but it yet to appear in the first team.

Dagenham have signed former Wycombe defender Will Antwi on a two year deal. Bradford have signed central defender Steve Williams from Bamber Bridge.
