With the news that Hereford United are to re-develop the Blackfriars End of Edgar Street, it is probable that the Football Foundation will be able to offer help with the building costs.
Here's a summary of their requirements:
Security of tenure:
To be eligible for funding, your club must be a member of the English Football League and either own the freehold of the site you want to develop or have a lease with at least 10 years left before it runs out. You may be eligible if your club has a licence agreement, but we will consider each licence agreement separately.
Grant Limits:
The following grant limits apply to clubs in the Football League:
Clubs in the Football League before the 2004/05 season: £2m
Clubs that entered the Football League in or after the 2004/05 season: £750,000
We will decide what percentage of the full amount of your project we can give you based on the type project you put forward. We base grants on the league you were in at the time you sent your application, regardless of whether you are relegated or promoted after that, unless your promotion or relegation has been confirmed by the league at the time you sent your application to us.
Eligible work:
We can provide grants for major devlopment projects and projects to make necessary safety improvements.
The FSIF have published eight technical data sheets that offer you step by step advice on planning your project and give detail minimum specifications on various aspects of facilities. It is essential that your project complies with these data sheets.
We have also published Accessible Stadia, a good practice guide to the design of facilities that meet the needs of disabled spectators and other users. The publication has been funded by the FSIF supporter of the Football Foundation, and the Football Licensing Authority (FLA)
