Club Statement on Re-Development

The following statement comes from the Official Hereford United Website:

Following a meeting with Council Officials and Richardson Developers we would like to announce proposals for the Club to build a new 2,000 capacity covered terrace at the Blackfriars End.

At the meeting we needed clarification on three main points, lease extensions, permission from the Richardson’s (as our landlords) to start our own development and the prospect of gaining planning consent. All three issues were clarified to our satisfaction.

After twelve years of talks we felt there was little chance of advancing things quickly which is vitally important considering the reduction in capacity and the closing of the Blackfriars End. Therefore there was no alternative but for us to pursue the development independently.

The development costs will be funded by the Club itself along with any grants available from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.

The configuration of the terrace would enable seats to be installed if required at a later date but we believe that many supporters still prefer to stand.

It will also incorporate facilities and viewing platforms for disabled and their attendants, new toilets and canteens.
