Last Season in League Two

With Hereford United joining League Two, here's a look back at some of the stats from that league from last season.

1375 goals were scored and it probably comes as no surprise to learn that a huge 56% of them were scored with the right foot. 256 goals (18.6%) came from headers, meaning 312 of all goals came from the left foot. There were also 30 own goals while seven came from other body parts!?

Brentford, Exeter and Wycombe may have been the top three in the league but it would appear Dagenham & Redbridge were the most exciting to watch. John Still's side topped the goals per ground league with 2.92 being scored at each game, with 68 coming in the 23 league games, with the Daggers netting 44 - more home goals than any other side. They were also the team with the most shots on target with 301 and had the most corners with 341.

In total in League 2 there were a massive 5853 shots on target, with 70 coming from Bury's Andy Bishop. The shots to goal ratio means that 23.5% of all shots on target have resulted in goals. Grant Holt finished the season with 20 league goals and was a prominent name throughout the statistics. The Shrewsbury striker finished with the most shots on 135 and the most off target with 72. He also committed the most fouls in the league with 123, but ironically he won the most free kicks with a staggering 110.

At first glance League 2 appears to have been the cleanest league with over 100 less yellow cards than the rest of the Football League. Just 1402 cautions were given out, averaging just 2.5 cards per game but when it comes to sendings off they lead the way with 92, that's 0.2 per game.

And finally the stat of the season - for any of you who leave early to beat the traffic you'd have missed over 200 goals with a staggering 215 being scored in the last 10 minutes.
