News Round Up

New Oldham boss Joe Royle has had a busy day, ending the loan spells of Jan Budtz and Dean Windass and opening talks to take Ipswich goalkeeper Shane Supple on loan. Windass is now stuck in limbo as he was due to remain with the Latics until the end of the season, and now cannot play for any other side. Cheltenham have extended the loan of Reading forward Nicholas Bignall for a third and final month.

Northampton have signed Reading striker Aleksander Prijovic on loan for a month. The Serbian spent an unsuccessful month at Yeovil earlier in the season, failing to record a goal in four matches. No Bulls in the Team of the Week, which features two players each from Bristol Rovers and Brighton.

Despite their transfer embargo supposedly being lifted, Chester boss Mark Wright has told the press they will not be signing any new faces until the summer. Owner Stephen Vaughan told the fans the embargo would be lifted a month ago, but has not stumped up the money. Yesterday's Independent carried a story on clubs falling into Administration, containing the line: Another voice, who wishes to remain anonymous, says that a League Two club will fold "this season" and will not be able to fulfil their fixtures. The full article is here. The article has set alarm bells ringing amongst the fans of a number of clubs including Chester.

Lincoln have raised £2,000 from their local Co-op by fans donating their dividend card points to the club. Weymouth's Chief Executive Gary Calder has been removed from his duties, and the club's board is set to resign as a consortium is set to take over the club. The group is different to the nine man set who were rejected before the Stephen Beer farce. Beer himself is now claiming he was part of a consortium, the fourth time he has changed his story in the past week.

Crawley have decided to offer fans free admission to their forthcoming Setanta Shield match after recent gates fell to nearly half their average. The Conference promotion chasers managed just 777 for the visit of Rushden. Altrincham report that ex-Bull Chris Lane's sub appearance on Saturday was his 350th game in the Conference. The former Everton trainee is still only 29.
