Walsall Appoint Hutchings

Walsall have appointed Chris Hutchings to be their new manager, the club have announced.

The 51 year old former Bradford and Wigan boss has followed Paul Jewell round for the bulk of his managerial career so far, but has not lasted more than six months on the occasions he has replaced Jewell at Bradford and Wigan. His last managerial appointment was as caretaker at Derby, winning his only game in charge to make his total record ten wins in 44 games.

He has signed a contract until next summer, and is joined by Martin O'Connor as his assistant. O'Connor spent a season as manager at Halesowen after finishing playing as Kidderminster's player-coach. He spent three years as a player with Walsall.

Hutchings first game in charge will be against Hereford United on Saturday.

In other news this morning a 'reserve' team from Hereford United are to play Cardiff City reserves later today at the Bluebirds training ground.
