A tactical error by Southend boss Steve Tilson almost cost Southend all three points in today's League One match at Roots Hall.
Choosing not to name a substitute keeper for the game he was left rueing the decision when stopper Steve Mildenhall went down with an ankle injury with just under 20 minutes left. Mildenhall carried on after treatment even though he was obviously struggling but the Bulls registered only one shot on goal afterwards with the last kick of the game.
Lee Barnard's goal in the middle of the first half was enough to give Southend the points for a 1-0 win in front of a gate of 6,393 with 242 travelling Bulls. The Bulls will be concerned with Andy Williams, who lasted just over half an hour before coming off due to injury.
