Wales manager John Toshack was reportedly at Edgar Street yesterday.
It is understood he was there to watch Stockport defender Ashley Williams.
Meanwhile Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has told the press that he currently has less players in his squad at Ninian Park than he did when he was in his first job as a manager at Stockport County.
Cardiff who defeated Hereford United in the fourth round of the FA Cup play Middleborough in the last eight of the competition.
Jones hasn't been able to add to his squad recently because of the financial problems at the club mainly because of a legal row. Chairman Peter Ridsdale has said the dispute has cost the club £5m.
"I’ve only used 21 players this season – and four of those have been goalkeepers," said Jones.
"If it carries on like this I’ll be ringing up headmasters and asking them if our 15-year-old youth team players can have time off school because they’re needed in the first-team squad."
