Preview: Bulls vs Wycombe

The Bulls can take a good step towards promotion by ending Wycombe's hopes of an automatic spot in Saturday's match at Edgar Street.

The Chairboys are seven points adrift of the third-placed Bulls, having played a game more, and will be fighting hard to keep their dreams alive rather than face the play-off lottery after beating rivals Darlington 2-0 last Saturday. The December 2-2 draw at Adams Park between the two sides was frustrating for Wycombe as they conceded a two goal lead with just five minutes of the match remaining.

The Bulls will be looking for a stronger performance than the one at Field Mill on Tuesday. While the defence held firm that night, the front line has produced only three goals in the last four games and will need to find their form quickly for the run-in. Steve Guinan's return to training will give the front line a boost after ten weeks out, but he is still some way off match fitness.

Wycombe's record in recent weeks against the promotion chasing sides is good with wins over Rotherham, Rochdale, Chesterfield, and Darlington all without conceding a goal. Their biggest problem is against the strugglers, dropping points to Dagenham, Bury, and Mansfield in recent weeks. 21 goal top scorer Scott McGleish has scored in both the last two games as has Leon Knight who arrived in January from MK Dons, where he started their game at Edgar Street in October.

Hereford United vs Wycombe Wanderers, Edgar Street, Saturday 15th March, 3.00pm.
