Parry remembers his time at Hereford United

Paul Parry will return to Edgar Street next Sunday with Cardiff City and will be aiming to show Graham Turner just how much he has improved since moving from Hereford.

Parry is one of only two first team players remaining at Ninian Park since Dave Jones became manager. And recently he was linked with a move away to Ipswich and Leicester amongst the clubs said to be interested in his signature. But he appears to want to stay with Cardiff City.

Newport born Parry started his football career with Bristol City where he was a youth team player whilst studying at Chepstow. Until Graham Turner caught up with him.

"I was offered a trial with Hereford United and felt it was worth giving it a go," Parry told the Western Mail.

He was offered youth terms at Edgar Street after two months with the Bulls. Then in 2004 he moved to Cardiff after then manager Lennie Lawrence had watched him at Forest Green.

"I just settled into doing my best for Hereford and was lucky enough to score my first hat-trick in a 7-1 win at Forest Green just before Christmas.

"Whether that made any difference I don’t know, but it couldn’t have done any harm.

"Hereford played Stevenage Borough on January 3 and on the Tuesday after that match Graham Turner told me he had received an offer from Cardiff City.

"I travelled to Ninian Park, had a medical and made my debut for the Bluebirds two days later, against Rotherham United."
