Palmer talks about his Career

Marcus Palmer, the 20 year old Hereford United striker, is hoping his time will come to make his mark in the Football League. Recently his contract with the Bulls was extended to the end of this season.

As a youngster he was scoring goals for fun when spotted by Bristol Rovers.

"I was spotted by Bristol Rovers at the age of 12 and signed for them until I was 16," Palmer told the Gloucester Citizen

"It was a good experience for me there and I learned a lot, so I'll always be grateful to them.

"I eventually moved on to Cheltenham Town, which was good at first but I ended up not enjoying it - I didn't really do myself justice."

He was released from Whaddon Road after two years when just 18 but soon received an offer from Bulls manager Graham Turner. He quickly started scoring goals for the Bulls in reserve and local cup games. Late last season he was about to go to Bath City on loan but after he scored a hat-trick against Westfields Turner kept him at Edgar Street and gave him a first team debut as a substitute against Swindon last April.

"I'm itching to get a game but I've had be patient, with Trevor Benjamin, Steve Guinan and Theo Robinson all scoring goals for us," said Palmer.

"It's probably not helped me that the team have done so well but the gaffer has told me to keep working hard and I'll get a chance.

"I've got half a season left to make the breakthrough and I'm pretty confident I can do that. If not, then Stu (Fleetwood) has shown at Forest Green that sometimes it's better to take a step down before coming back up."
