Fans Make Mansfield Bid

A Fans' Consortium is being assembled to bid for Mansfield Town and their Field Mill ground.

Mansfield Town Fans Together (MTFT) have announced that they will offer shares in the consortium for £1,000 each, with no set limit on the amount of shares. The option is also available to buy the shares in monthly installments.

Owner Keith Haslam rejected a bid for the club believed to be worth nearly £3million, without the sale of Field Mill included. On current gates, the group would need to persuade each supporter to part with £1,500 just to make a similar bid.

In other takeover news, Chester's Supporters' Trust has backed former director Paul Baker's offer to buy the club. He is the only one of three bidders to speak to the Trust.

Swindon's protracted takeover appears to be nearing completion. Announcements yesterday stated that confirmation of a deal would be issued at varying times yesterday, but no deal was completed. Now Trust chairman Paul Davis has told the local press that the deal will be concluded today, with all immediate debts being wiped out in the process.
