News Round Up

Chester have acknowledged an inquiry from a Championship club for teenage striker Paul McManus. The 17 year old made his first team debut two weeks ago, but has been a fairly prolific goalscorer in the reserves. Darlington target Michael Bridges has signed for Australian side Sydney FC.

Former Chelsea man Jody Morris is training with Brentford. The 29 year old spent nearly two years on the sidelines at Millwall with a string of injuries before being released in the summer. Northwich have applied for Administration as they attempt to stave off a winding up order from the taxman. The move will effectively relegate the club, who are already 12 points adrift of safety in the Conference without the 10 point penalty.

Stevenage have offered manager Mark Stimson a new deal. Stimson appears to be the no.1 choice for the manager's job at Gillingham, but has been refused permission to speak to the club. Swindon have secured financing from an additional backer to stop the taxman from taking the club to court. The proposed takeover of the club is now described as failed.

Dagenham defender and former Hereford United player Anwar Uddin will be a guest of Prince Charles next month in recognition of being given the captain's armband this season. Uddin, 25, is the first British Asian to captain a Football League club. The dinner is to honour 'the enormous contribution made to this country in many fields by members of the British Asian community and their major role in shaping modern Britain'.
