25 year old Chris Weale should sign a month long loan deal at Hereford United tomorrow. It's not been easy for goalkeeper Weale recently and a good spell at Hereford could help him prove to manager Gary Johnson that he's worth keeping at Bristol City.
A recent article in the Bristol Evening Post reveals that Weale has had three operations in the last year. Last season Weale only made two first-team appearances because of his knee and back problems. Because of that Johnson has only offered him a month to month contract.
"I've got to show everyone what I can do. I have to show them I'm fit and, hopefully, the club will look after me," said Weale.
"I've been working hard throughout the summer to get my sharpness back and I feel really good.
"I received clearance from my specialist (at the end of June) and returned to training with the rest of the lads. I'm happy to report all feels fine with my fitness.
"I'm also very happy with the month-to-month arrangement. The club signed me injured and stuck with me through all the problems last season - I can't ask for any more from them."
Gary Johnson also commented.
"Chris still has to prove his fitness to everybody, so he's signed for a month.
"He's obviously been out for a long time and we're just monitoring his progress at the moment. The club has stood by him and Chris is happy with the month-to-month contract.
"We know he's a very good goalkeeper and we don't want to lose him to someone else when he finally gets fit. That's why we've sorted him out with a short-term deal."
