MK Dons: Last-4th, Bookies-15/2 (2nd) - Paul Ince has a budget, a brand new stadium, and the expectations of thousands of people who have tattoos of other clubs. Premiership veterans Kevin Gallen and Colin Cameron bring experience, but holding onto Izale McLeod is probably the best news of the close season. Strike partner Clive Platt has gone for £300,000, and so has the Wimbledon history, but the club will at least expect a repeat of last season if not better.
Macclesfield: Last-22nd, Bookies-33/1 (17th) - Ince resurrected them from certain doom last season, but Brightwell will do well to continue their form in the second half of last season. The signing of lower league goalscorer Martin Gritton is their best piece of business this summer, but whether he will get the service from ex-Bull Danny Thomas is anyone's guess.
Mansfield: Last-17th, Bookies-50/1 (19th) - Defensively, it looks alright for the Stags - just don't ask where the goals will be coming from. Their five strikers include three trainees, the occasionally fit Michael Boulding, and Danny Reet - who the manager has accused of being unfit and overweight. But the defenders are alright. Huddersfield smacked four past them at the weekend and their off-field wranglings between the board and supporters might be the only action the fans will enjoy.
Morecambe: Last-Promoted, Bookies-74/1 (Joint 21st) - Morecambe have kept a low profile in pre-season dealings this summer despite losing both Danny Carlton and Chris Blackburn. Matt Blinkhorn arrives on a permanent deal after eight goals in twelve games on loan last season helped them into the league, while Dave Artell arrives from Chester after his player of the season performances proved unpopular with the management. Back-stabbing manager Sammy McIlroy knows how to deal with this division without a real budget after several years at Macclesfield.
Notts Co: Last-13th, Bookies-25/1 (Joint 13th) - After ten signings last summer, it's nine this season at the revolving Magpies door. The surprise early leaders last season fell apart badly over Christmas, making their season look respectable with a late rally. New strikers Hector Sam and Spencer Weir-Daley will be fighting over a place when Jason Lee isn't suspended, while the midfield will feature ex-Bulls loanee Neil Mackenzie.
Peterboro: Last-10th, Bookies-4/1 (1st) - Darren Ferguson is going to look like a right prat if he doesn't win the league at a canter. Sixteen signings since January, spending somewhere around £2million, will require more return than the damp squib that the second half of last season proved to be. Outbidding Walsall for probably League Two's player of the year last season, Dean Keates, should be the engine for the incredibly expensive machine assembled at London Road. The nerves are already getting to them, with both Barry Fry and Chairman Daragh McAnthony slamming fans for not turning up to friendlies.
