Rochdale: Last-9th, Bookies-18/1 (Joint 7th) - Rochdale promoted? Not in my lifetime. No, really - they've been here since the summer of 1974 but they actually have delusions that, like an astronaut, they may actually find what is 'up there'. Keith Hill's appointment last December saw them lose just five of twenty six games during the second half of last season. He is another that did all the hard work in January, and is likely to make liberal use of the loan system after 15 temporary players arrived last season.
Rotherham: Last-Relegated, Bookies-20/1 (Joint 9th) - Should be big and bad enough to mount a reasonable challenge this season, but grumblings about manager Mark Robins' ability continue to haunt the supporters. Ten summer signings, with Accrington's Andy Todd the most interesting, appear to have been drilled heavily in set-piece work. Financial worries still trouble the Millers, but a play-off berth should be a capability.
Shrewsbury: Last-7th, Bookies-20/1 (Joint 9th) - The late burst into the play-offs last season should be a good platform to mount a serious challenge this time out. Defensive pair Darren Kempson and Colin Murdock will add steel at the back but they still lack a real goalscorer up front. The new stadium will boost attendances and give the club a kick but doubts remain whether the squad is complete, especially if Derek Asamoah departs.
Stockport: Last-8th, Bookies-18/1 (Joint 7th) - After a hideous start, the Hatters were unlucky to miss out on a play-off spot. Expected to at least make the end of season lottery, highly-rated Irish midfielder Gary Dicker could be the best £40,000 they've ever spent. If Anthony Elding can keep up the one-in-two goal ratio he managed last season they should be there or thereabouts by the end of April.
Wrexham: Last-19th, Bookies-33/1 (Joint 15th) - New ownership, new sponsors, same old struggling Wrexham. When the manager outlines his own sides' failings the week before the season you tend to know the next nine months won't necessarily be good watching. The permanent additions of two of the loan players that gave them the last-day reprieve in April, plus experienced pair Richard Hope and Eifon Williams hasn't really inspired much hope for better things this time around. Expect a season of treading water, and a managerial change around Christmas.
Wycombe: Last-12th, Bookies-16/1 (6th) - A summer of cost-cutting has seen a string of Adams Park veterans shown the door both on and off the field. Tommy Mooney fired parting shots at the club 'going backwards'. The new signings are largely untested apart from useful Scottish midfielder Gary Holt, who probably shouldn't be playing League Two football, and forward John Sutton, who got a decent amount of goals at St Mirren. However they disappointed last season, and will need to perform this season.
