News Round Up

Macclesfield have signed former Lincoln, and more recently Mansfield, striker Martin Gritton. The player was released by the Imps after spending the latter part of the season at Mansfield, and has signed a two year deal at Moss Rose. Darlington have signed ex-Swansea keeper Andy Oakes. He cost Derby nearly half a million in 1999, but played just six times in a season at the Swans.

Bristol Rovers' groundshare with Swindon is becoming increasingly unlikely after Swindon forward Lee Peacock added his voice to the objectors. Cheltenham have sold striker Kayode Odejayi to Barnsley for £200,000 plus clauses. Forest Green will receive about £50,000 as a result of a sell-on clause. Ex-Bull Mark Beesley has agreed a new deal at Forest Green, keeping him there for another 12 months.

Morecambe have released three fringe players following their promotion to the Football League. Defender Danny Meadowcroft, midfielder Jonathan Smith and forward Thomas Pickersgill have all been released, with only Meadowcroft featuring in the first team last season.

Rochdale have signed Stockport goalkeeper James Spencer. The youth team product played over 100 first team games in seven years as a pro at the club. Chester have missed out on their second Tranmere target after goalkeeper John Achterberg agreed new terms at Prenton Park. The club have also rejected Chester's bid for winger Kevin Ellison.

Notts County have sold 1,913 season tickets so far, with the early-bird discount now closed, and expect to break the 2,000 mark before the end of June. Torquay are auctioning off old kit on their website. Amongst the items up for grabs are two match worn Alan Connell shirts from the 2005/6 season, with bidding on each at £5.

Rotherham have sold over 900 season tickets for their return to League Two football. Like last season, MK Dons are facing a supporter backlash over friendly matches with Watford fans the latest to protest at a proposed friendly match with the "Franchise FC" club. With the club due to move into their new stadium, they are in talks with ex-Luton boss Mike Newell over their manager's post.

Ex-Bull John Grant is in the National Game squad to play Finland tonight. Next season, the National Game XI will be known as England C, with the FA intending to reintroduce the B team as a permanent fixture.
