The Bulls entertain Boston for the first time in the Football League this Saturday, hoping to end a six match barren spell in front of goal.
The two sides drew 1-1 at York Street in November in front of a paltry 1,731 fans, with Andy Williams supplying the goal. The Bulls have gained only one win against Boston in six matches so far, a 4-3 televised win in February 2002 when Rob Elmes scored the winner after Boston squandered a two goal lead.
The Bulls' six match blank spell has seen the side slip down the table into a strangely familiar 17th place. It's the worst spell in front of goal for the Bulls in the Football League and recent Conference spell, surpassing a five match barren spell in September and October 1982 - a season the Bulls finished bottom of the league and only remaining a league side by being re-elected.
Boston have lurched from crisis to crisis this season. With the players, what few of them are left, still unpaid for last month the remaining 12 professional players will be reduced to 11 when Nathan Joynes loan spell from Barnsley finishes before the weekend with the club unable to afford to extend the spell any longer. They will, at least, have a team coach for the trip to Edgar Street after one was donated to the club after the players had to use their cars for Saturday's trip to Notts County and the recent trip to Mansfield.
Phil Joslin from Nottinghamshire will referee the game.
Hereford United vs Boston United, Edgar Street, Saturday April 14th, 3.00pm.
