Former Hereford United captain, Ian Wright, has retired from football after an injury suffered on Boxing Day.
Wright, who had been playing for Chasetown, was advised by doctors to retire from football due to the seriousness of a cheekbone/eye socket injury he received in their match against Rushall on Boxing Day.
Manager Charlie Blakemore said: "It's a hammer blow to the club and to Ian. He's been in devastating form this season"
In a statement the club thanked Wright for his contribution to the club.
Wright played for Hereford United from 1998 to 2003. In his five seasons with the club he made over 170 appearances and scored 23 goals.
