Yesterday another football manager lost his job. This time it was Peter Jackson of Huddersfield. The directors thought the team wasn't doing well enough and so the manager had to go.
Jackson had been with Huddersfield for over three years and was the 14th longest serving manager in top flight English football.
Hereford United manager Graham Turner is the third longest serving manager in a distinguished list of top managers who have stayed a reasonable time with their club.
Longest serving manager is still Crewe's Dario Gradi who has been in charge for 24 seasons.
The other long-serving managers are: Sir Alex Ferguson (appointed by Manchester United in 1986), Graham Turner (Hereford United, 1995), Arsene Wenger (Arsenal, 1996), John Coleman (Accrington Stanley, 1999), Sam Allardyce (Bolton, 1999), Neil Warnock (Sheffield United, 1999), Paul Jewell (Wigan, 2001), Steve Bruce (Birmingham, 2001), David Moyes (Everton, 2002), Chris Coleman (Fulham, 2003), Roy McFarland (Chesterfield, 2003) and Mike Newell (Luton, 2003).
Graham Turner is the only person in the above list to be both manager and chairman of a club.
