News Round Up

Kidderminster boss Mark Yates and assistant Neil Howarth have signed new two year deals with the club despite a recent downturn in form ruining their play-off hopes. The pair have been in charge for just over a year and have taken the club to the FA Trophy semi final.

Macclesfield have signed John Rooney, brother of Wayne. The youngster has just been released by Everton after failing to make the grade. Torquay are changing the rules for student discounts after a large number of people were found to be using out of date student passes. All discounted tickets will now have to be purchased from the club office on matchdays.

The re-writing of history continues, with the usually excellent Non-League Daily and several other Conference news sites repeating the Conference's 'Rushden sign Baker' article. I wonder what Conference rules we broke by staying in the division for two extra years.

Accrington's gate of 1,302, up against live terrestrial Champions League matches, was their second lowest gate of the season and over 600 down on their previous home match. Mansfield were 400 down, costing the two home sides around £15,000 in lost gate receipts. ITV and Sky pay £84million a year for coverage of the Champions League.

Boston manager Steve Evans has blasted the 'Coronation Street managers' in League Two. Evans has seen two of his loan signings poached by other League Two sides and expects winger Albert Jarrett, on loan from Watford, to follow: "I am sick of going out and spotting players while other managers are sat at home watching Coronation Street. I am sure the Coronation Street managers will start keeping an eye on Albert after the way he has been playing for us - but there is nothing I can do about that."
