One set of statistics show just how close yesterday's play-off game was.
Morecambe had 14 Goal Attempts as opposed to 15 by Hereford. Seven were on target for the Shrimps and six for the Bulls.
The home side were caught offside 5 times whereas Hereford were only penalised twice and for fouls Morecambe had 12 and Hereford only seven.
Players rating were all seven's except Morecambe's Twiss was given eight as was Hereford's Mkandawire.
Probably the biggest bone of contention was the performance of the referee. Neither set of fans thought he was very competent.
He certainly allowed a higher degree of physical challenge than many Conference refs. For example the push on Alex Jeannin before the corner from which Morecambe scored might have been a free kick in Herefords favour had a different ref been in charge.
Graham Turner appeared to be very angry when Jeannin was injured in the second half. He was seen to be protesting in no uncertain terms to the fourth official possibly about why the ref had not stopped the game.
There was a high level of police presence around the ground but no reports of trouble.
