Graham Turner will be meeting up with one of his signings whilst at Wolves tomorrow evening. The player is now Mansfield manager Peter Shirtliff and he says he is looking forward to meeting Turner again.
"Graham signed me at Wolves from Sheffield Wednesday and later on he made me captain," Shirtliff told Mansfield Today.
"I had two good years there and he was a nice bloke and a good manager. He has done a very good job at Hereford and they have done consistently well."
Meanwhile Shirtliff has revealed that he will be making chages to his Mansfield Town side when Hereford United visit Field Mill tomorrow night (Tuesday, 7.45pm). He has five players doubtful for tomorrow and could leave all five out.
Jon Olav Hjelde has a sore ankle, Simon Brown has hurt his foot, Adam Rundle has a calf injury, Richie Barker has several knocks, including a sore back, and Alex John-Baptiste was today having an X-ray on a nose injury.
"We have those five on the treatment table and various other bumps and bruises so there will certainly be changes," he said. "But it does give other players an opportunity to stake a claim."
Defender Kyle Jacobs, a summer signing from Oldham, is in line for a debut while there is likely to be a full debut for recent signing, striker Adrian Littlejohn.
The visit of Hereford represents the first of three successive home games in eight games for Mansfield.
"It is a chance to pick ourselves up before Barnet come here on Saturday. And winning could have a snowball effect," Shirtliff explained.
"Turner has done a very good job at Hereford and they have done consistently well.
Anyone expecting an easy game tomorrow can forget it. They are a full-time club, as are many in the Conference these days, which makes it almost like a fifth division.
They will be organised. They will be fit and they will be very difficult to beat."
