Most top sides should win on Saturday

With only just over two weeks for clubs to secure a Conference play-off place, Saturday's fixture list contains several games the results of which could have a bearing on Hereford United's chances. The Bulls (3rd on goal average) are at home to York.

Barnet will hope to secure promotion this weekend. They only need a point, or for Carlisle to drop a point, and they will be playing in Division Two next season. The Bees are at home to Halifax (4th) and are expecting a large crowd which should help them to overcome the Shaymen. Yet a victory is by no means certain as Barnet lost last Saturday at Northwich and although beaten by Exeter last Tuesday, Halifax were said to have been the better team on the night.

Carlisle (2nd) are at home to Forest Green and must fancy their chances of taking three points. Likewise Aldershot (5th) who entertain Crawley Town (12th).

Two of the other play-off contenders meet at the Interlink Express Stadium. Stevenage,(6th) who defeated Woking (10th) on Tuesday and considered themselves unlucky not to take a point from their recent game with Hereford United, will fancy their chances against Accrington (9th). The home side's form has been disappointing recently. They were defeated at Crawley last Saturday and have only taken two points from their last three games.

Exeter (7th) could move up the table as they should defeat Northwich. Morecambe (8th) however may find the long journey to Gravesend less rewarding. A draw looks a possibility here although Morecambe have a recent trend of coming from behind to win games as they did recently against Hereford.

Woking travel to Leigh RMI. The homeside have nothing to play for but pride as they will be in Conference North next season, whereas Woking will be eager to win this game as they have recently dropped several places in the table.

With Barnet, Carlisle, Aldershot and Exeter looking likely to gain three points, and maybe Stevenage as well, it will be essential that Hereford defeat York. Otherwise they could drop to seventh place by tea-time on Saturday.
