The lads played well

Michael Rose spoke to BBC Hereford & Worcester after this afternoon's game.

He said that he was "disappointed with the result obviously but I think the lads played well. It's just a case of finishing our chances. Our chances don't seem to be going in for us. I would have said we were the better team today. It could have been game over in the first half."

Asked about the season so far he continued: "I am enjoying the season so far. I've settled in really well."

Talking about next Saturday's FA Cup match he commented "Wigan are doing well in Division Two and the lads are looking forward to it and we start to prepare for it on Monday. The FA Cup is a completely different tournament and we are looking to do as well we can in that."

Graham Turner was in no doubt where the problem about going five conference games without a win lies."We are nowhere near ruthless enough in the opposition penalty area," he told the Non-League Paper. "We worked hard and tried to play in a constructive way but in your good spells you've got to put the ball in the net."

The stats showed that Hereford had nineteen shots at goal whereas Southport only managed five.
