Bulls lose again
Hereford United lost at home to Southport 2-0 this afternoon. Both the goals came from poor defending although there was a hint of offside about the second. The Bulls had chances and should have done better in front of goal.

Hereford
United 0 - 2 Southport
Ahead of next weekend's FA Cup first
round game against Wigan Athletic, Hereford United would
have hoped for better things than a 2-0 defeat to fellow
play-off contenders Southport.
With Jamie Pitman suspended, Matt Clarke filled in at right-back after returning from a dead leg and Hereford started the better of the two sides, with some nice early touches. Southport also had chances to push forward, but the first real opening came on the half hour mark.
Steve Guinan flicked the ball through to Chukki Eribenne, who slipped in the box before recovering to pass a couple of defenders. He smashed the ball onto the crossbar, which rebounded out and bobbled around the box. Paul Parry picked up the play, firing a low shot goalwards but it was blocked by the defence.
A few minutes later, Eribenne tried his luck from long range. After a promising build-up, the striker on-loan from Bournemouth hit a curling shot just over the top of Kevin Welsby's goalframe.
The Bulls piled on the pressure before the break, but in the second peroiod it all went pear-shaped.
Just six minutes after the restart, a corner was swung in from the far side for Matt Baker to deal with. He dropped the ball, which caused confusion in the United box, and Southport skipper Steve Soley was on hand to tap the ball home.
The half turned into a relatively subdued affair with Michael Rose firing one of Hereford's few chances wide from thirty yards. Port also gave Baker little to do, until the last minute when Peter Thompson made it 2-0 after Baker had parried a Soley shot. The goal had more than a hint of offside to it though, after the away side had broken away from a United set piece.
