Adam Rooney has left Edgar Street and joined Paul Caddis at Kings Lynn.
Kings Lynn are reported to have made an approach to Hereford and after discussions it was agreed that Rooney could move.
'We are delighted to announce that Adam Rooney has joined the club as assistant coach,' said Kings Lynn.
"It will a similar role that I have for the past couple of years under the gaffer," said Rooney.
"And if and when needed stepping on the pitch.
"We talk to each other more than we speak to our wives.
"It's great to be back with him."
Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds commented:
“We were keen for Roons to remain at the club, but after speaking with him, we respect the opportunity he has been offered at King’s Lynn and the greater security a deal there will give him".
There is no mention of any fee for Rooney but he is one of the more highly paid players off the budget.
Update from Rooney:
'Thank you to everyone at Hereford for the last couple of years.
I loved my time at the club and working with so many great people.
I’m grateful for the way the club have handled everything and I wish the players, staff and supporters all the very best for the future.'
