News round up

National League North's basement club Leamington have signed striker Tyrone Lewthwaite as manager Scott Easterlow’s first addition.

The 25-year-old joins from step three Bromsgrove Sporting after scoring five goals in 12 games, having previously hit double figures for Corby Town. Lewthwaite, who has experience across non-league and youth spells with Watford and Rotherham, adds attacking options as Leamington look to strengthen.

Kidderminster Harriers have signed midfielder Brayden Johnson on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

Boss Adam Murray, who previously managed Johnson at Eastbourne Borough, described him as an “all-round midfielder” who can “do a bit of everything”. The teenager is expected to add energy to the squad and will wear the number 25 shirt at Aggborough.

Some Merthyr Town supporters are opting to fly to their next game - more than 300 miles away in the North East. The South Wales play-off hopefuls make their mammoth trip to high-flying South Shields on Saturday, with a return journey by car taking 11 hours to cover the 624 miles.

Peterborough Sports goalkeeper Sam Edwards has been selected to represent Great Britain Under-23s at the Deaf World Cup in Serbia this May.

However, the squad must self-fund their participation, with Edwards aiming to raise £2,000 to cover costs. The club has urged supporters to help the keeper as he looks to represent both club and country on the international stage. The GoFundMe is here.

AFC Telford United striker Matty Stenson may have to play through pain for the rest of the season as the club push for the play-offs.

The Bucks’ record goalscorer has missed the last four games with a toe injury, with scans revealing an overuse issue. Boss Kevin Wilkin said Stenson is a “big, big player” and could return soon, even if it means managing the injury with painkillers.
