Claims King's Lynn "manipulated" postponement by soaking pitch

The National League are investigating claims that King's Lynn "manipulated" the postponement of a recent match by deliberately soaking their pitch ahead of a planned pitch inspection.

The Non-League Paper have images that were leaked to them that appear to show the Docherty Walks Stadium deliberately being watered while it was already raining.

The scheduled match against South Shields on February 14 was called off the day before.

The NLP has approached King's Lynn, but the club had not replied.

It is alleged that the irrigation system was in full flow for 45 minutes on the Friday afternoon, despite it raining, two hours before the scheduled pitch inspection.

It has been reported that King's Lynn were hit by a flu bug and a mounting injury list that had decimated the squad. However, instead of following normal FA protocol for medical postponements that require a doctor's certificate, it is alleged that the club took things into their own hands.

The National League are currently investigating the claims, and if found guilty, King's Lynn could face heavy sanctions.

The Linnets are 19th in National League North, four points above the relegation zone.
