Going Behind Gave Us A Mountain To Climb Said D'Ath

Hereford mid-fielder Lawson D'Ath, speaking after last night's 2-2 draw with Bedford, admitted that going behind so early in the game had given his side a mountain to climb.

Bedford took the lead after just four minutes. Poor marking by Hereford probably didn't help.

But a goal from D'Ath early in the second half brought Hereford back into the game..

"Obviously we're really happy to have come back from 2-0 down," said D'Ath.

"But, make no mistake, I don't know how many times we've done that in the first five minutes when we've gone behind and given ourselves a mountain to climb.

"It's a hard one to take but we need to make sure we don't concede in the first half."

Why was it a slow start?

"I have no idea at the minute. We get the games, I'll watch it back and analyse it.

"But it's happened too many times now so we need to do something different.

"We as players need to take responsibilty and put it right."

Asked what was said at half time D'Ath felt they had a chance to get back in the game.

"We just needed something to happen and thankfully it did. We got on the front foot again and could have gone on to win it. But it could have been 4-4."

Interviewed by Carson Wishart, it was put to D'Ath that his goal was the spark to get Hereford back into the game.

"It was about time. I should have done it in the first half.

D'Ath Goes For Goal In The First Half

"It's nice to hit one sweet and get a goal and get us back into the game.

"It gave everyone a boost."

Monty Gibson, back at Hereford, came off the bench and scored Hereford's second goal.

"Mont's back and scored, he probably could have had a hat-trick in the half.

"It was one of those games, we were happy to have got back into the game but at the same time frustrated."
