News round up

Former Bull Harry Pell is reportedly rejoining Cheltenham Town after being released by AFC Wimbledon. The midfielder, now 32, initially arrived at Edgar Street on loan in 2011 and then joined permanently, leaving in 2013 after some 60 appearances.

Since then he has played for clubs including Eastleigh, Colchester and Accrington Stanley. Gloucestershire Live understands he has just passed a medical as a Whaddon Road return looks likely.

Chester have made their third signing of the summer as Cam Moore joins from play-off-qualifying Curzon Ashton. Manager Calum McIntyre said the keeper arrives with "real experience of the league" and is "highly regarded as among the best goalkeepers in the division", with "so many clubs" wanting his signature this summer.

After seven years and more than 150 appearances for Curzon in his first spell at the club, Moore went on to play for Southport and Guiseley.

South Shields midfielder Martin Smith will be out for several months after suffering a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

The 28-year-old former Sunderland youth is expected to make a full recovery. A club statement said he had a successful, planned hernia operation at Nuffield Health in Middlesbrough but had a serious fall in hospital.

Former Bull James Roberts has signed for National League South side Hampton and Richmond. The 27-year-old forward made 19 appearances and scored five goals for Hereford in the 2018/19 season before moving out on loan to Alvechurch.

He has since stayed in step two, playing for Spennymoor Town, Oxford City and Havant and Waterlooville.
