Attacking midfielder Dominic McHale who spent the last part of the season on loan at Edgar Street has a new club.

He was released from Scarborough Athletic at the end of the season and has now dropped down two divisions.

Step four Hednesford Town said McHale, 28, is a talented attacking midfielder who can play on either wing and started his career in Manchester City's youth set-up. after a spell at Barnsley, he played in Cyprus before returning to England where he gained further "high-level experience" playing for teams such as FC United, Oldham and Salford City.

McHale then moved to AFC Telford United where he was a regular starter before moving to Gloucester City where he played under now Hednesford boss Steve King. Hednesford said he made an instant impact scoring twice on his debut and netting 10 goals in 21 games during the 2022/23 season. Starting last season at Brackley, he then moved to Scarborough in January of this year, appearing 14 times before finishing the season on loan at Hereford FC.

Manager Steve King, whose first signing was Chester left-back Joel Taylor, said: "I am delighted to sign Dom as he was instrumental for me whilst at Gloucester and this was one of the key signings I wanted to get over the line. I am sure the fans will be excited by his style of play and we can’t wait to see him on the pitch."
