Club gets green light for land behind Meadow End

The compound behind the Meadow End
Herefordshire Council has given the green light for Hereford FC to use some land behind the Meadow End.

The council, which owns Edgar Street and Merton Meadow Car Park, has granted the club an occupational licence for the existing compound area.

In reasons set out in the council decision notice, the compound area behind the Meadow End is not included in the current lease to Hereford Football Club Ltd but is required as additional space for the running and maintenance of the stadium.

It also said the club are already occupying the land and a licence is needed to regularise the situation.

It has been used for car parking in recent seasons and now the water tanks for the pitch sprinklers have been moved there due to the Blackfriars' End demolition.

Sarah Jowett, the council's strategic assets delivery director, also said the licence is needed to establish the responsibilities of the council and club and protect the authority's interest.

Bulls News understands that when the new lease is drawn up and signed, this land will be included.
