News round up: McLean 'not in a good way', former Bulls in promotion push and more

Ryan McLean

Former Hereford forward Ryan McLean suffered a knee injury after making his first start for AFC Wimbledon. McLean joined the League Two side from Hereford last summer and had a spell on loan at Kidderminster Harriers in the National League.

But in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Tranmere, a result which means the Dons now can't make the play-offs, McLean was forced off injured. Manager Johnnie Jackson said: "He’s not in a good way. He twisted his knee on the edge of the pitch. I’m gutted for him because it was his first start in the league. The opportunities he’s had, he’s made a good impact. He’s been robbed of one today. I was excited to watch him play today."

Step three side Bromsgrove Sporting are parting company with manager Tim Flowers. In a statement, the club thanked Flowers but they feel that the team requires a "complete rebuild". The 57-year-old former England keeper has had several short stints at clubs including Northampton Town, Barnet and National League North side Gloucester City.

Former Hereford defender Jack Evans and midfielder Kane Thompson-Sommers have helped FC Halifax Town to the National League play-offs. The pair left Edgar Street last summer and after three days in five days the Shaymen confirmed their play-off place on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Eastleigh.

Darlington's assistant manager Terry Mitchell has agreed a two-year deal to stay at the club. He arrived at the club in January alongside manager Steve Watson, who signed on the dotted line earlier this week, after Josh Gowling failed to turn things around at the Brewery Field.

The club said in a statement that the pair guided the club to safety from relegation, with 12 wins and a draw from their 22 games in charge and a 16th-place finish. They said Mitchell has made a "huge contribution to the successful fight against relegation and has become a very popular figure with the fans in the process".

Chief executive David Johnston said the pair have formed a "very good partnership and have the respect of the players". He also praised Mitchell's vast knowledge and experience which will be a "big help to us as we build next season".
