Club Chairman Chris Ammonds With Director Darren Ball |
Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the club would like the Council to agree a longer lease for Edgar Street.
"When we went to the Council when the club was formed after the sad end of Hereford United understandably the Council didn't want to give us too long a lease because of everything that had just gone on.
"I think at that time we were given five years. Then during that period there were new negotiations that took place and the lease was extended until 2030.
"So we've got six years left on that lease.
"Now we are looking at extending it and getting a significent extension well beyond 20 years because that then opens the doors to Football Foundation funding and grants for the infrastructure improvements that we even need on the three sides of the ground currently with our lease.
"Everything is pointing to the Council willing to give us that extended lease that we need.
"We might tie in it with the work at the Blackfriars End, depending on the time scales, the period of time that's funded for.
"We're really confident we'll get well beyond twenty years.
"The longer the better in many ways but the reality is that the days of being given 99 years are long gone.
"We'll take what we can get."
