Hereford supporter Rhys Llewellyn is raising funds for Prostate Cancer.
Rhys tells us why.
"More than 11,000 dads, brothers, grandads, partners and mates die from prostate cancer every year.
Sadly we all know someone who has been affected by this dreadful disease. Let's see if we can make a difference.
I have been trying to raise awareness about Prostate Cancer by doing the March the Month for Prostate Cancer UK.
I first got involved back in 2021.
The main aim is awareness and to possibly raise money to help those affected by the disease. I am fortunate, at the moment anyway, not to have been physically affected by prostate cancer, but I have friends and know many who have. I also know men who seem to be reluctant to go and get themselves tested because of a misconception of what is involved, possibly feeling embarrassed and that it may not happen to them.
We
need awareness as unlike some other forms of cancer there is currently
no routine screening in place to test for Prostate cancer, you literally
have to ask your doctor if you can have a test. This coming Saturday,
the 23rd of March, Prostate Cancer UK will mark and celebrate a 10 year
milestone working with non-league day and Jeff Stelling to make
awareness by challenging fans to attend a match to mark the occasion. I
hope some are prompted to take action and ask to be tested so that lives
may be saved by early intervention."
