Man of the match Ollie Southern spoke to the local media after yesterday's FA Trophy tie which ended Gateshead 1 Hereford 0.
"I feel like we deserved more," said Southern.
"First half we defended well but they didn't have a lot of chances, just the one that came off the post.
"We had a few chances as well, Cowls could have nicked the ball off the keeper, a few headers as well.
"Tough one to take today."
Gateshead had the lion's share of possession for much of the tie.
"The Gaffa has been telling us all week how good they play on the ball, play little balls in behind.
"So we expected them to have a lot of the ball.
"I felt we did well, the back four dug in deep, we didn't have a lot of chances and we defended well."
Gateshead scored mid-way through the second half, so Hereford had to go for an equaliser.
"I feel like we could have grabbed it at the end.
"It's typical when you play games like this, second half they didn't really have a chance except for the goal. Tough one to take."
