Hereford's first goal of the afternoon came late in the first half.
Most, if not all, of the Southport supporters behind the goal thought the ball didn't cross the line. And from that angle it probably looked that it hadn't.
But the side view, where the linesman was, is the important one.
The goal came from a long punt by defender Paul Downing. It looked as though it was meant for Jason Cowley.
As can be seen in the photos Cowley was surrounded by two defenders.
Obviously there are gaps between each photo so one of the three might have got a touch.
The keeper is on his line. When he initially collects the ball it looks like that's when the ball might have crossed the line. If it did, the linesman should have had a decent view.
As the keeper drops to the ground he then appears to have the ball inside the field of play.
Hereford's Cowley appealed to the linesman.
The goal was given and Hereford celebrated.
