Has Caddis tried to bring popular midfielder back to Hereford?

Hereford manager Paul Caddis said he had tried to bring in a player ahead of the game at Southport this weekend.

The Bulls won 2-1 thanks to goals from Paul Downing and Kieran Philips but Caddis was only able to name three players on the bench.

Wingers Yusifu Ceesay and Tope Obadeyi both missed out through injury, with Lassana Mendes suspended.

On top of that, Maziar Kouhyar's loan from York City wasn't extended and Camron McWilliams left Edgar Street to join fellow National League North side Rushall Olympic.

When asked by Bulls News if he had tried to bring somebody in, Caddis initially said no.

But he then took it back, saying: "We have tried to get players, we've tried to get a player everyone's well aware of.

"It's been a bit difficult so we're going to have to move on on that one. We need to bodies in, we'll hopefully try and get a body or two in this week."

Tom Pugh was popular among fans

It's not clear which player Caddis was referring to, but there had been talk online from fans that they would like to see Tom Pugh back at Edgar Street.

He quickly proved a favourite among fans during a successful loan spell from Scunthorpe United. His parent club recalled him from that loan which had been extended until the end of the season.

On McWilliams' departure after one appearance in his month at Edgar Street, Caddis said the departure "happened last minute".

"Sometimes in football things happen really quickly, too quick for us to react," he said.

He also said Rushall, struggling at the bottom of the table, promised McWilliams - who was at Nuneaton Borough before their demise - football.

"I can't, I won't promise anyone that they'll play games," he added.
