Former England keeper Tim Flowers has been appointed as his successor, with the 56-year-old starting the season at Gloucester City before being dismissed along with his assistant, former Hereford player Yan Klukowski.
Announcing the news Southern League Premier Division Central side Bromsgrove said Flowers had a "glittering career in between the sticks", winning the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers whilst picking up 11 England appearances.
As a manager, he enjoyed a successful spell with Solihull Moors, where he took them to second in the National League and also the second round of the FA Cup.
More recently, the club said he has had experience of the Southern Premier when he took charge of Warwickshire side Stratford Town.
Chairman Rod Brown said: “The club is going through an extensive re-evaluation as a business off the field, by re-engaging and creating a connection with the local and wider community in order to build a sustainable future.
“With this in mind, we also want to build a football model to run parallel. We believe our initial priority is retain step three football, while we work on the model that we want for next season and beyond.
“Tim Flowers comes with the pedigree and experience of an elite player, an excellent coach and a big character – all the attributes we believe will help us maintain our league status, whilst we set out our philosophy to go forward. We look forward to working with him.”
Mike McGrath was sacked after 13 months in charge, with the club saying they had been on an "indifferent" run of results.
His last game, a 3-0 defeat at home to Leamington, was the final straw and saw Sporting's winless run extend to six matches.
When McGrath, who was brought to Hereford under then manager Pete Beadle, was dismissed, the side had won just two of their last 15 league matches and were 17th in the table, nine points above the drop zone.
He left Edgar Street in November 2018, 16 months after joining and helping the Bulls to their third promotion as champions in as many seasons.
