Lilywhites through to next round of HFA County Challenge Cup

Hereford FC are through to the second round of the Herefordshire FA County Challenge Cup after beating Clee Hill United 2-1 at Edgar Street this evening.

As expected, first team manager Paul Caddis fielded the under-18s.

The visitors took the lead in the first minute through Kilicaslan, but midway through the first half a goal from Lewis Rose saw the Bulls back level.

Then, around 10 minutes later, Callum Nowell headed home from a corner to put the Whites ahead.

Into the second half, both sides had chances to find the back of the net, Lewis Rose almost scored his second for the Bulls, with Bowen dragging a shot wide and Breakwell firing over the bar for Clee Hill.

As full time neared, Shay Sterry - who Hereford fans will recognise from the pre-season friendly at Hereford Pegasus and being named a sub in recent FA Cup games - pulled off a top save to keep Hereford's lead intact.

But the young Bulls remained resolute and did enough to book a place in the next round.

In the other HFA Cup game played this evening Wellington defeated Westfields.
