Hereford manager Paul Caddis spoke to the local media after his side defeated Rochdale 1-0 this afternoon. The win puts the Bulls into the draw for the first round proper which takes place tomorrow afternoon.
"I know the club has got history in this competition, I made sure the players were made well aware of it," said Caddis.
"I thought today the supporters were different class. The last fifteen twenty minutes in particular when we needed them they recognised we needed them and they were amazing.
"They were amazing throughout the game but the last twenty minutes we needed them and they got us over the line.
"The game plan they took it on board and executed it.
"I knew we would get an opportunity, I knew we would get a few and I think in transition if we could have made, especially in the first half, that first pass positive and we get under control with the space there.
"Rochdale are a very good team. I went and watched them a couple of weeks ago against Solihull. They play two centre halves, two central midfields, then the rest up the pitch. Full backs come right high up the pitch. We recognised it there was space down the sides.
"I'm absolutely delighted with everybody involved including the staff, players, supporters everyone."
Caddis was pleased with another clean sheet.
"We've kept five clean sheets in a row and that's no mean fete.
"I don't care who the opposition is, or what you are up against, that's very good going.
"If you kept clean sheets you've got chances of winning football matches.
"I've got to give every single players credit.
"Pondy, we needed him at times and he produced for us as he has done numberous times this season.
"But I thought the back four and the two in front, listen I could go through everyone.
"I thought we were well deserving. I don't think Rochdale could come away and think they deserved to win the game.
"Yes they had a lot of possession but I think our sheer determination, desire, character was worthy of getting through."
