Spennymoor Too Good For Hereford

Spennymoor have beaten Hereford 2-0 at the Brewery Field this afternoon.

The home side took the lead on 28 minutes after good work from Ben Pollock allowed Popoola to score from close range.

The best chance of the half for Hereford came from Kian Ryley whose shot beat the keeper but was just over.

Hereford started the second half looking brighter but still failed to give keeper Montgomery much to do.

Rooney had a chance to equalise on 65 minutes from close range but Montgomery saved well.

Hereford manager Paul Caddis brought on Koby Arthur (67) and Connor Stanley (70). Lassana Mendes came on (77).

Pond denied Spennymoor a second goal with a double save on 79 minutes.

Minutes later Mendes hit the cross bar from 18 yards. And another cross from Mendes just eluded Rooney.

However Spennymoor sealed the victory on 88 minutes when Will Harris chipped Pond.

Son of Eric commented:

'Hereford pushed up and went to 5-2-3 in the second half pushing on Ryley and Babos.

Hereford brought on three subs as at Chester last Tuesday and it almost worked. The Bulls went up a level with Mendes hitting the bar and looking influential. Arthur looked livel.

And then when Hereford looked to equalise Spennymoor scored their second. A nice ball inside Cameron from which Harris scored.

Overall the result was a fair reflection of the game

Hereford didn't have enough cutting edge. Too many final balls nowhere good enough.

It looked like a team which will comfortably finish in the top half against a team, whom we have seen all too often in the last few seasons, who will comfortably finish in the bottom half.'
