Spennymoor took the lead on 28 minutes through Popoola after good work from former Hereford player Ben Pollock.
Hereford defender Ollie Southern lost Pollock allowing him into the box. The ball went to Popoola who scored from close range
Kian Ryley nearly equalised a few minutes later with a shot that beat the Spennymoor keeper but landed in the top netting.
Later Spennymoor felt they had a penalty when Nathan Cameron tackled Taylor but the referee waved play on.
More from Son of Eric who is at the Brewery Field:
Hereford have been outclassed by Spennymoor who look a top half side.
Hereford have struggled at times to get out of their half, Spennymoor have played a high press at times which Hereford have found hard to deal with.
Popoola on the right was impressive in the first 15 minutes and had the beating of Livingstone so manager Paul Caddis adressed that by switching Skinner with Livingstone. That worked better.
Most of Hereford's attacking options are putting the ball into the top far corner.
The goal was totally un-neccessary. Pollock was lurking on the edge of the box. Southern came out and half marked him but then left Pollock in loads of space.
A corner was hit deep to Pollock who was given a free header which went to Popoola for a tap in. Captain Cameron seemed angry but perhaps he should have organised the defence better. Leaving Pollock free on the edge of the box was poor.
It's a bit like at Chester. Hope to hang on, bring on the cavalry with 20 minutes to go and hope Hereford can turn it.
