Hereford chairman calls for patience as new team gels and adapts to league

Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds wants supporters to show patience
Hereford's chairman Chris Ammonds has called on supporters to be patient ahead of the new season.

Ammonds said that while every Bulls fan knows the National League North is "very tough", performances pre-season have given cause for optimism.

In a statement on the club website, praised the hard work and commitment of players, which he said had been "hugely impressive and the talent is clearly there too".

He said he is intrigued to see how the team performs this season, but it is "vitally important" fans show patience and don't expect too much too quickly.

Several members of the squad, including the likes of goalkeeper Curtis Pond, midfielder Lassana Mendes and defender Aaron Skinner, have not played in the National League North before.

On top of that, it is a completely new squad - with the exception of young defender Mark Derricott.

"Many of them have not played at this level before and therefore they may need time to settle into National League North football," Ammonds told the club website.

"I would ask our brilliant fans to get right behind the team from the very first whistle tomorrow and to continue to offer as much vocal support as possible at each and every game during the 2023/24 campaign.

"There will be times when things aren’t going our team’s way, or when individual players are having a tough time, and it’s at those points that our encouragement becomes even more crucial.

"That’s when we can make a real difference and when our roles are at their most important."
